Asterris is being run as a closed beta and as part of a Master's research project at the Dyson School of Design Engineering, Imperial College London. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect while you test the product, how it is used, and the choices you have. By creating an account you confirm you have read and accept this notice.

What we collect

Only the data the product needs to function: your email address and display name (to authenticate and bill the account), the projects and source code you choose to create (processed to build the Asterris map and retained as your saved work), and any feedback you submit through the in-app feedback tool. We do not gather browsing data beyond what the application requires.

How we use it

Your data is used to operate the service, to evaluate and improve Asterris, and to inform the project's academic report. Any feedback or usage figures that appear in the report are aggregated or anonymised, so that no individual participant is identifiable. Your code stays private to you by default and is not reproduced in the report unless you explicitly agree.

Your choices

Taking part is voluntary. You can stop at any time by ceasing to use Asterris and requesting deletion of your account and data. You may also request a copy of the data we hold about you. We will not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Storage and processors

Data is held on managed infrastructure acting on our instruction: Firebase (authentication), Neon (database), Fly.io (compute), Cloudflare (hosting), and Stripe (billing). Access is restricted to the project author. Data is kept only for the duration of the beta and the project's marking period, after which you may request erasure.

Lawful basis and contact
